The sea temperature around Hurghada varies from around around 18C in the winter (January/February) up to a maximum of around 30C towards the end of summer (September/October).  Some say the best months for diving or April/May and October/November but we dive all  year around.

At Aquastars, we host all divers with all levels of experience.  If you have never dived before, you can do the Discover Scuba Diving experience to try it out, or get qualified with the full PADI Open Water Diver course.  If you are already qualified and would like to come on one of our Liveaboard Safaris, we can arrange for you to take your PADI Advanced Open Water while you are on board.  We also offer a range of PADI Specialties including Wreck Diver, Deep Diver and Underwater Photographer.  View our Courses Page for all the details.

You need to be in reasonably good health to scuba dive, but by no means do you need to be superfit.  You will need to complete a PADI Medical Form before you dive with us. This lists a number of health issues that might cause issues with scuba diving, if you have suffered from any of them, you will need a doctor to sign you off before you dive.  If not, you can sign it yourself and jump straight in.

Our nearest airport is Hurghada in Egypt.  If you can organise flights to Hurghada, we can arrange transfers from the airport to the boats for Liveaboard Safaris, or from your hotel for Daily Diving. Companies operating flights from the UK to Hurghada include Easyjet, Thomson, TUI and Thomas Cook.  Another way to get here is to take a flight to Cairo and then a connecting flight to Hurghada.

It is always a good idea to make sure you have adequate insurance.  If you already have travel insurance, check the policy to make sure it includes scuba diving.  If it does not, we recommend you get some insurance with DAN Europe or Divemaster.

This depends on what you are planning to do.  If you are Daily Diving, then bring any dive equipment you own, or arrange to hire from us.  You’ll also need whatever you need to enjoy a day in the sun – sunscreen, towel, swimwear, a good book, some sunglasses. Don’t forget a warm sweater for the journey home or if it gets dark in the evening.  If you are prone to sea sickness you might want to bring some medication for that.  Food and soft drinks are available to buy on board.

For a Liveaboard Safari, we have a full list of what we recommend you bring.  You can download our What to Pack on a Dive Safari list.

Many of our guests combine their holiday diving in the Red Sea with visits to Cairo, Luxor or even a Nile Cruise.  If you would like advice on adding other excursions or longer stays to your drop, do ask us.
