ADVANCE YOUR DIVING

Once you have qualified as a PADI Open Water Diver, or indeed gained your initial certification with SSI, CMAS, BSAC or another agency, there are plenty of ways to increase your diving skills and knowledge with further training.  At Aquastars, we can teach these courses either on our day boats, on our Liveboard Safaris (by prior arrangement) or sometimes from our house reefs if you prefer.

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver

The PADI Advanced course is made up of 5 Adventure Dives.  You will do a bit of work on theory with your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver manual and complete 5 supervised dives with your instructor.  Everyone completes a Deep Diver, where we take you below the 18m you could go to on your PADI Open Water Diver course and up to 30m deep.  You’ll also complete a Navigation Dive just to make sure you can use a compass and also have some natural navigation skills.  After that, the choice is up to you and could include a Wreck Dive, Fish ID Dive, Photography Dive, Night Dive, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Drift Dive or other from the PADI Adventure Dive selection.

PADI Specialty Courses

On our Liveaboard Safari Trips,  or from our day boats, you could take one or more PADI Specialty Courses such as Underwater Photographer, Nitrox, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver or Night Diver. Just let us know if you’d like to add to your Certifications while you are with us so we can make sure we have the right instructor and materials available.  These courses will both help you develop skills in your chosen specialist areas, and work towards PADI Master Scuba Dive status.

PADI Rescue Diver

If you are qualified as PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, or have an equivalent qualification, your next step is to become a PADI Rescue Diver.  Alongside increasing your First Aid skills and knowledge with the Emergency First Response course, PADI Rescue Diver helps you learn and practice key rescue techniques that will help you look after both yourself and your buddy.  You’ll go over some theory, practice each technique individually and in buddy pairs and then work up to carrying out some improvised scenarios in open water on our house reef, or from one of the boats.  PADI Rescue Diver really is serious fun!
