DAILY DIVE SITES – OUR REEFS

With easy access to dive sites around Hurghada, Giftun, Makadi Bay and Safaga, our boats are within daily dive reach of some of the finest reefs the Red Sea has to offer.  From the spectacular drop offs of Panorama, one of Safaga’s largest reefs, to easy drifts around the Giftun Islands, via a lazy saunter around Gota Abu Ramada (also known as The Aquarium – with good reason) and a swim with the turtles at Abu Soma garden, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Our daily dive boats can take you to reefs suitable for all levels of experience, from the very beginner divers to experienced divers looking for the thrill of a fast drift or dramatic drop-offs.  Our guides will always talk you through the dive plan and show you the way.  If there is somewhere in particular you would like to go, or some marine life you especially want to see, do let us know.

Thank you to HEPCA for the use of the dive site maps.

Hurghada Dive Sites

Giftun Islands

Anthias in the Red Sea with Aquastars
Small Giftun Reef

The Giftun Islands Marine Park has been a  marine reserve since 1986.  It is now home to a multitude of stunning dive sites including drifts, drop offs, sheltered lagoons and coral gardens.

Reefs we may visit include Torfa Fanous, with its lighthouse and interesting pinnacles, Hamda with deep drop-offs hosting tuna, turtles and jackfish and Shaab Sabina, a beautiful shallow drift over acres of coral garden.

Abu Ramada

Butterfly Fish
Gota Abu Ramada

The island of Abu Ramada is surrounded by excellent dive sites, well protected from most weathers. Abu Ramada East has caves full of glassfish and lionfish. Gota Abu Ramada, also known as The Aquarium, is home to butterfly fish, sweetlips, octopus, stonefish and scorpionfish.

With boulder corals, fan corals, pinnacles and coral gardens, this trip is worth it for the architecture alone.  A wonderful set of sites for beginner divers.

Abu Haschish

Diving in the Red Sea
Abu Hashisch

A small island, that was once a haven for smugglers, Abu Haschish offers several dive options – a drift down the reef wall, a lazy wander in the lagoon or a visit to the plateau and drop-off with its 18m erg.

Everything lives here, squid, flatfish, blue spotted rays, white tips and tuna, anthias and morays, barracude and nudibranchs.  However big or small you like your marine life, you have a good chance of finding it at Abu Haschish.

Safaga Dive Sites

Abu Soma Garden

Turtle in the Red Sea
Ras-Abu-Soma Reef

Located near Soma Bay, Abu Soma Garden is a fringing reef that slopes gently from 5m down to over 30m via a stunning coral garden.  With over 2km of wall, Abu Soma Garden can be dived from the moorings or as as a drift.

There is a good chance to see clownfish, blue spotted rays, and many varieties of hard coral formations. Turtles are almost guaranteed.

Tobia Arba

tobia arbaa

An array of 7 pinnacles, with a maximum depth of around 15m, Tobia Arba, near Safaga is also known as Arba Erg.  Nearly reaching the surface, the pinnacles are home to an array of fish life, soft and hard corals.

Meandering between the coral columns will give you the chance to spot puffer fish, lion fish, coral groupers and for the sharp eyed, maybe an octopus. Also a great night dive.

Panorama Reef

Panorama Reef

A wall dive with a sloping plateau that drops away to 100m, Panorama is one of the largest reefs in the Safaga area.  With over 100m of wall, we will often make several dives here.

Look out for clouds of anthias, and giant anenomes with their hosted clownfish near the reef and blue spotted rays on the plateau. Off into the blue you might spot tuna, trevally or larger pelagics.
